Follow-on Modules for AutoCAD MEP Training

EastCoast CAD/CAM, Derek Renn (Kelar Pacific) and Beth Powell are waiting to hear back from you, the students to help us determine what would be the most appropriate web training to follow-on from the December 10-11 (Virginia) and December 13-14 (San Diego) AutoCAD MEP Training. Please share with us what you think would be the most helpful follow-up set of training now that you've returned to your businesses.

Based on the feedback we will finalize our plans during the week of January 7th and will notify you of the topics and the times for the follow-up training. Thanks in advance for your suggestions...

Here are some of my comments:

Follow up lessons on set up as Beth spoke about would be a good start:

Create a template in MEP

Set HVAC system definitions

Set HVAC/duct/preferences

Creating schedules

Creating 3D equipment libraries with smart connections

Tagging set up

Annotation set up

Also I like to save the CUI files to another name and set up my own work space to keep all the original files virgin. I copied the ABS.cui file and copied HVAC workspace and copied AutoCAD MEP (US Imperial) profile and renamed it also. When I make all these current I have the famous question mark problem on the icons, AutCAD does not find some of the MEP bitmaps. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Do you have specific questions about the system definitions and duct preferences that are not covered in the handout from class?

I have shown a screen capture of the QNEW in options to set your template and how to get started with a posting on my blog in December. I will provide Dave with some additional information to post here.

Keep those comments coming!

I have questions regarding setting up menu files in MEP and incorporating toolbars and palettes we currently use. I like to copy and rename the CUI file to work with my own CUI. When I copy the ABS.cui and rename the file I get icons with a question mark. The path to the bitmap seems to be broken. I also took the HVAC work space and saved it as my own to leave HVAC as is and I also made a copy of the AutoCAD MEP (US Imperial) profile and renamed it to my own profile. Whe I bring in our tool bars in the cui I get icons with ? marks. Now I have changed some setting in options and I can not use the HVAC palette I get the message "Unable to execute the tool. Class not registered. I realize I have asked quite a bit here but is there a proper way to set up the CUI, menu files, profiles, workspaces so you are not customizing the original files. I'm currently working from my local drive but eventually need to set up the files on our server so everyone works from the same files.
